Rachel Hawkes, Co-Director of NCELP, presented to 600 teachers from 580 schools at the 27th PiXL Languages Conferences, held at Kia Oval, London on 27 November 2019.
The presentation, entitled Inspirational Curriculum Design in languages…to ensure success, answers for languages the questions that drive the new Ofsted framework:
- What is the essential knowledge in your subject?
- Why are you teaching it in this order?
- Is teaching clear and do learners understand?
- Do they remember more, know more and can they do more? (And how do you know?)
NCELP aims to bring research and practice closer together, improving languages curriculum design and pedagogy at KS3 to improve uptake at KS4.
